About Arunachal Pradesh Tourism

Arunachal Pradesh is hard to trace. There seems to have been high affinity between the native Arunachali groups and Burma-area hill tribes. The state is said to have been mentioned in Hindu texts like Mahabharata and Kalika Purana. The sage Parashuram washed his sins away here; King Bhismaka discovered his kingdom and Lord Krishna married his companion Rukmini, leading the state to be called ‘Prabhu Mountains of the Puranas’. The past of Arunachal Pradesh is clearly recorded from 16th century in the Ahom chronicles. The north-western parts came under the control of Monpa kingdom of Monyul which thrived from 500BC to 600AD. Then, the northern part of the state was under the power of Tibet and Bhutan. Ahom and Assam controlled the remaining areas. In 1858, Arunachal Pradesh was also brought under British East India Company. Arunachal became a state in 1987 after previously being called North-East Frontier Agency since 1955.
